Figure skating queen Kim Yu-na turned into a muse for white porcelain.
More than 200 press members and fans gathered at the Shinsegae Department Store in central Seoul on Friday to see Kim and KwangJuYo’s new line inspired by the skater.
Titled “Yuna,” the collection mirrors Kim’s graceful beauty and healthy image, according to KwangJuYo. The elegant lines and soft colors of the pottery should remind of Kim’s delicate techniques and acting on ice, it explained.
“I participated in this collaboration in gratitude to everyone who showed interest and loved my ‘Homage to Korea.’ The porcelains might remind you of the touching feeling related to my performance,” said Kim at the launching show.
The line includes mugs which are designed after Kim’s body proportions; music boxes which play Arirang, a song included in Kim’s “Homage to Korea”; lavender, bergamot and petitgrain scented candles; and massage balls. Five colors ― white, sky blue, green, magenta and black ― were used in the collection.
Established in 1963, KwangJuYo is one of the leading porcelain companies in Korea which produces modern tableware by reinterpreting Korean traditional porcelain-making techniques.
At the launching show, Kim signed a big white moon jar and also gave out autographs to 50 customers who bought products from the new collection.
The collection will be sold at Shinsegae Department Store in central Seoul for five days until Wednesday. For more information on the collection, visit www.yunacollection.com.
