Expatriates will get to test their mastery of the local language against each other on Oct. 6 in a Korean Writing Contest.
It is the fourth such contest held by Busan Foundation for International Activities and Pusan University of Foreign Studies.
There will be two divisions ― essay writing and poetry ― and the topic will be announced on the day. The contest runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The first prize is 1 million won, the second 500,000 won, and the third 300,000 won. There will also be special prizes of 200,000 won for two entrants who participated last year and have showed significant improvement.
Papers will be marked by a Korean teacher and sent to applicants. Copies will be retained for next year’s special award.
To enter, download an application form from www.bfia.or.kr and submit it by Sept. 30. Entrants must be foreign residents of Busan whose mother tongue is not Korean.
