Hopes of further advance hang in the balance for two South Korean teams at the top Asian club competition this week.
Pohang Steelers of the K League Classic face a must-win situation as they host Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan in the Group G finale at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the AFC Champions League.
Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have a bit more breathing room, as they take on Guangzhou Evergrande on the road on Wednesday at 9 p.m., Korean time.
They can clinch first place with a win, and with some help from other teams in the group, can still move on with a loss.
The fate of two other K League Classic representatives has already been determined. FC Seoul clinched first place in Group E with a 2-0 win over Jiangsu Sainty of China last week.
Suwon Bluewings, on the other hand, were eliminated following a 1-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners in Group H last week.
Pohang is currently ranked third in Group G with six points. Bunyodkor leads the pack with nine points, followed by Beijing Guoan with eight points. Sanfrecce Hiroshima is dead last with two points and has already been eliminated from the competition. (Yonhap News)
