Seoul to host first motorcycle trade show in March

The first motorcycle trade show in Seoul will be held on March 31 at Coex in Samseong-dong, Seoul, said co-organizers Coex and the Korea Motorcycle Industry Association on Tuesday.

The Seoul Motorcycle Show 2016 aims to attract motorcycle maniacs and other interested public, they said. About 80 motorcycles from nine makers will be exhibited at the show. They include BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Indian Motorcycle, Kawasaki, KR Motors, Kymco and Suzuki. Twelve of them are being presented to the Korean market for the first time.

The theme of this year’s fair is “Ride on Life on.”

“The theme highlights that the motorcycle show encourages riding a motorcycle as a new lifestyle,” a PR official said. “In the old days, many Korean people held negative views on motorcycle riding because of some reckless joyriders. However, it has become a part of leisure. Now, it is more than a means of transportation.”

In 2016, the number of officially registered motorcycles in Korea increased to more than 2 million. The Seoul Motorcycle Show, which will be a biennial event, will run for four days.
