Volkswagen highlights innovations

Volkswagen Korea unveils its Design Vision GTI concept car for the first time in Asia at the Seoul Motor Show.

The concept car has a maximum 503 horsepower and runs up to 300 km per hour. It is said to be the “ultimate golf,” delivering pure passion and fun of driving, and shows the quintessential innovative flank of the German carmaker.

To achieve an extra sporty look, doorsills and C-pillars were pulled outward and the track was widened to accommodate 235-front and 275-rear tires, all on bespoke 20-inch wheels.

In order to emphasize the low, wide look of the vehicle, several horizontal elements have been adjusted to the front and rear bumpers, while the new headlights bring a touch of sophistication to the futuristic car.

The plug-in hybrid electric car Golf GTE, as well as compact crossover coupe SUV, the T-ROC, are also being showcased in Korea for the first time.

Volkswagen is showcasing 18 car models at the 2,250-square-meter booth, including the Golf R, Golf Sportsvan and the New Polo. The German carmaker will start sales of the New Polo in Korea on Friday to mark the motor show’s participation.
