Two blockbuster online games are rushing in with Blizzard Entertainment’s “Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm” and Nexon’s “Korean Baseball 2K.”

“Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm” is an expansion pack to the military science fiction real-time strategy game “Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty,” which is now available for purchase in Korea, the U.S., Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and other regions.

Blizzard held a launching event in Seoul on Monday to announce the release of the new blockbuster, which was welcomed by hundreds of fans who were eager to buy the expansion pack.

Mike Morhaime, chief executive and cofounder of Blizzard, said that all features were enhanced in the new pack and that people will be able to more easily learn the upgraded online game through new resources and displayed functions.

The game was officially released on Tuesday.

Nexon’s new online baseball simulation is another game with high expectations, which was jointly developed with 2K Sports and NeoPle.

2K Sports’ Visual Concepts studio has developed seven iterations of its “Major League Baseball 2K” series and the “World Series Baseball” series for Sega.

Real star players appear in the game that will be available for computer-based testing from March 14-23.

The online baseball game features all 10 teams in the Korean professional baseball league and adds reality by including the players’ unique facial expressions and their real performances.

The game is offered in three different modes ― pennant race, multi-play and single play ― enabling the game player to have a variety of experiences within a single game, said Nexon officials.
