The company said Saturday that Park will replace the LCD arm’s former CEO Chang Won-kie, who was removed from the post last month for the unit’s recent lackluster performance.
Jun Onodera, CFO of S-LCD, who has led the company along with Chang, however, will maintain his post, the company said.
Park got his master’s degree in electronics at Sogang University and doctor’s degree at University of California, Berkeley. He started working at Samsung Electronics in 1983 and has served mainly in the company’s semiconductor business.
S-LCD, established in 2004, is an equal joint investment by Samsung and Sony dedicated to the manufacturing of amorphous TFT LCD panels for LCD TVs.
