Renault Samsung to have new CEO

The Renault Group will appoint Francois Provost, the French carmaker’s deputy managing director in Russia, to head Renault Samsung Motors on Sept. 1, an official at Renault Samsung Motors said Thursday.

Provost will replace Renault Samsung’s current CEO Jean-Marie Hurtiger, who took the Seoul office in May 2006.

“Renault Samsung will have new leader effective Sept. 1. Francois Provost will transfer to Seoul to prepare for the job soon,” the official told The Korea Herald.

Since joining the carmaker in 2002, Provost has been directing the Russian unit’s strategy and planning for the commercial division. He was transferred to Moscow in 2010.

Hurtiger, the outgoing CEO, has also been the president of The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea since 2008.
