LG’s Cinema 3-D TV ...certified as full HD

LG Electronics’ Cinema 3-D TV was certified as full HD in 3-D mode by VDE, one of Europe’s largest technical and scientific international associations, the Seoul-based company said on Sunday.

“This latest certification proves beyond all doubt that LG’s Cinema 3-D TVs, which already provide the most comfortable 3-D viewing experience, deliver 3-D in full HD,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “We’re pleased to say we can now put this debate to rest.”

Full High-Definition indicates a display that surpasses the video quality and sharpness of the original high-definition television.

There was earlier a dispute among local TV makers over whether LG Electronics’ 3-D televisions were full HD after rivals challenged that the company’s new line of 3-D TVs using film patterned retarder technology had failed to attain the related certification.

Prior to VDE, other institutions and agencies such as the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce had ruled that Cinema 3-D TVs indeed meet the full HD standards.

TV and Intertek, two of Europea’s top quality assurance and safety certification agencies, also previously awarded LG televisions “flicker-free” certifications.
