Seoul Players runs 10-minute play festival

Seoul Players is holding its annual 10 Minute Play Festival for two weekends, starting Saturday.

In its sixth year, the competition received 200 play script submissions, from which Seoul Players chose 16 to be staged in competition.

The submitted plays were of any genre, were not performed before and have a maximum running time of 10 minutes. Submissions came from Korea and abroad.

Local actors and directors then formed teams to give the plays their debut performances. More than 40 actors are involved in this year’s festival.

Audience members will be given ballots for the first round of plays to vote for their preferred performances, with the best going through to the final.

The first program of eight plays will be performed Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. The second program will be performed on Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 3 p.m.

Four plays will go through from each program to the final on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m.

The final will be decided by a panel of judges.

Performances will be held at the Yeollim Theatre, near Jongno 5-ga Station in Seoul. Tickets are 15,000 won ($13) in advance and 20,000 won at the door (cash only). Reservations will close 24 hours before each performance.
