French Charge d’ Affaires Fabrice Leggeri hosted a delegation of the Greater Lyon Asociation led by deputy mayors of Lyon Jean-Michel Daclin and Karine Dognin-Sauze at the official ambassadorial residence Wednesday.

Leggeri said they achieved a lot in expanding the Lyon region’s Korea ties and networks in the high-tech area of robotics, as well as in gastronomy and other cultural fields. Lyon is renowned as a world food hub, but Lyon is also a robot hub for Europe. A chef even accompanied the 16-person group of business leaders and technology experts.

The delegation visited Korea to promote the attractiveness of the Lyon region and to help develop cooperation with Korea, particularly in the field of robotics and computer industries.

Robots were on many people’s minds. The delegation visited Robot World 2012 at KINTEX and spoke with a series of companies and institutions, including NHN Corporation, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, SK Innovation, and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

The buzz that France created at its National Pavilion during Yeosu Expo 2012 was electric with its swimming robot fish and its robot band’s rendition of La Marseillaise, the country’s national anthem.

Greater Lyon includes 56 smaller cities neighboring Lyon, France’s second largest city Mayor of Lyon is the president of the association, Gerard Collomb.
