A Seoul prosecutor offered to resign on Wednesday following revelations that he had accidentally sent a text message suggesting that the prosecution's ongoing reform measures aren't sincere.
Following a series of scandals involving incumbent prosecutors, Yoon Dae-hae wrote a message on the prosecution's intranet on Sunday, demanding that the prosecution take stern reform measures.
The next day, the prosecutor at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Office accidentally sent a text message to a reporter that allegedly said, "There is no loss for the prosecution which just needs to make it look like it is taking reform measures by itself."
The message was apparently intended for a fellow prosecutor.
Following media reports on Yoon's remark, the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office on Tuesday launched an internal inspection over the incident.
The latest incident further added woes to the prosecution as it came on the heels of a massive bribery scandal centering on a senior prosecutor and revelations that a trainee prosecutor allegedly participated in sexual acts with a woman suspect during questioning. (Yonhap News)
