Hechung expands LA galbi franchise

Hechung Franchise, a restaurant chain in Korea, is gaining interest from those who plan to start food businesses for its unique know-how in developing Korean dishes, according to company officials.

The company boasts 20 years of expertise in LA galbi and budae jjigae.

Hechung chief Lee Ki-sang established the food chain in 1990 and became the first franchise to serve LA galbi.

“I began everything from scratch, including the supply and distribution of the ingredients and much more,” said Lee. He said creating the taste that people like most has been the gateway to his success.

“This meant timeless effort to provide sauces and plates that could satisfy both the domestic and the international customers,” he added.

Lee stress­ed that fresh ingredients and a sanitary kitchen are what lead Hechung’s reputation, saying that above all, more and more families visit LA galbi restaurants as they are well-liked by children.

As the country’s first franchise specialized in LA galbi, Hechung has been attracting a number of franchise members from various regions, including Gwangju, Busan, Osan and Jeonju.

Company officials said the first Hechung restaurant, launched in Songtan where a U.S. military base is located, reaps about 1 million won ($940) in average daily sales.
