South Korean electric cable company LS Cable & System announced Wednesday that it had become a direct supplier of high-voltage automotive cables to Dongfeng Motor, a leading Chinese auto company.
LS Cable’s high-voltage cable sets ― used to connect components in automobiles ― will be installed on the electric car Venucia e30 starting next month.
The Venucia e30 is an EV model produced by Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle, a subsidiary of Dongfeng based in China.
Fueled by the Chinese government’s efforts to expand green driving, LS Cable is expecting to supply 600-volt cables for over 100,000 Dongfeng vehicles by 2020.
LS Cable first developed its own high-voltage cables in 2009 and has been actively expanding its reach into the Chinese market, investing 4 billion won ($3.65 million) to open a branch in Wuxi, Jiangsu province in 2012.
