길이 9미터, 몸무게 3톤 괴물악어 발견

무게 3톤, 길이는 9미터 이상으로 추정되는 고대 악어의 화석이 발견돼 화제다.

화석은 이탈리아의 볼로냐대학교 연구팀이 튀니지에서 발견했는데, 두개골 등 악어의 일부를 확인할 수 있었다고 한다.

1억 2000천만 년 전 바다에 서식했던 것으로 추측되는 이 악어는 마키로사우르스 렉스 (Machimosaurus rex)로, 이제껏 발견된 악어나 악어화석 중 가장 큰 것으로 알려졌다.
