Kpop group Shinhwa plans concerts in March

Longest-running Korean boy band Shinhwa will stage concerts in March commemorating the 18th anniversary of its debut, the group's agency said Friday.

Shinhwa Company said the concerts will be held on March 26 and 27 at Seoul Olympic Gymnasium in the southern part of the capital city.

The six-member boy band achieved huge success with their latest album released in February last year, as the act earned 10 trophies, topping weekly TV music show "M Countdown" numerous times.

The album pays tribute to the band's fans, with whom it shares countless "memories."

Shinhwa debuted with SM Entertainment in 1998, releasing the debut album "Resolver."

More recently, the veteran band won the domestic concert musician prize at Interpark's "Golden Ticket Awards."

Formed in 1998, the six-member band has remained together for nearly two decades, a rare case for a second-generation idol group in Korea. Most of the idol groups that led the K-pop boom in the early 2000s have disbanded.

Shinhwa Company said tickets for the concerts will go on sale soon, with priority given to its fan club members. More than 20,000 fans are expected to flock to the shows, it said. (Yonhap)
