Rainbow’s leader Kim Jae-kyung spoke openly about the girl group’s views towards their lukewarm success as well as their member Hyun-young’s public relationship.

At a media showcase at the Yes24 MUV Hall in Seoul on Monday, Jae-kyung said that the members supported Hyun-young’s public relationship with electro pop group Clazziquai’s singer Alex.

“When we first heard the news, I honestly was a little proud of Hyun-young,” Jaekyung joked, as a media scandal meant Rainbow had the attention of the public. She turned to Hyun-young to ask if she was happy and added, “We are all supporting you!”

Jaekyung also said that it has been a long time since Rainbow first debuted in 2009 and that the members are still holding onto the hope that their success will continue to grow over the years.

“We believe that if we come out with the right song, it will match up with the public’s desire to help us out and we will rise to the top,” she said.

“Despite not having our big break yet, the reason why we have been able to stay together is that all of the members in our group have really healthy mindsets,” she said. “It’s easy to feel despair (in this situation), but we stay positive, and that mindset actually led to more fans supporting us.”

She also said that, “Rainbow is simply growing a little slower than other groups,” adding that “Although we might grow a little slower, with each new song we want to show real growth.”

Rainbow’s 4th EP “Prism” was released Monday.
