South Korean rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae has claimed a silver medal at the Grand Prix in Russia, showing promise for a podium finish at the upcoming Olympics.
Son earned a combined 72.964 points in the individual all-around event at the Grand Prix 2016 in Moscow on Saturday (local time).
Russia's Aleksandra Soldatova won gold with 74.066 points. The bronze went to Arina Averina of Russia, who scored 72.682 points.
By apparatus, Son earned 18.366 points in clubs, 18.166 points in ribbon, 18.066 points in hoop and 18.366 points in ball. She has qualified for the individual finals for all four apparatus slated for Sunday.
This is the first time Son has made the podium at the Grand Prix in Moscow, a competition she's participated in every year since 2011.
She finished in 19th place at the 2011 Grand Prix and climbed every year to 6th place in 2014. (Yonhap)
