K-Town to be set up in Indonesia

[THE INVESTOR] A well-known street lined with cafés in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, will be recreated in Jakarta, Indonesia.

At a media conference on Aug. 3 in the neighborhood, the Small and Medium Business Administration announced that it will establish “K-Town for small businesses” in the Indonesian capital by the end of 2018.

It aims to nurture K-Town into a local popular destination similar to that in Yongin where over 120 cafés and stores are attracting many visitors.

As a global business model for the country’s small business owners, SMBA will set up an antenna shop next year, inviting them to carry out market research and gauge marketing effect before they can start running a coffee shop or a store in K-Town,.

“Small business owners can face difficulties in terms of costs when they enter overseas markets on their own. It should be an organized effort,” said SMBA’s SME Minister Joo Young-sup.
