Wizard, character themed kids rooms at Kensington

Kensington Hotel and Resort has added new types of “character kids rooms” to its Chungju and Gyeongju resort branches in order to appeal to families with young children.

The “wizard’s room” at the branch in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, is furnished with various props like a sorcerer’s robe and tools, and its wallpaper bears illustrations of bookshelves, brick walls and magical books.

Cocomong Kidsrooms in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, use the animation monkey character Cocomong in two themes of the jungle or the space. Both types are equipped with a kids playing zone, as well as toys, baby bathtubs and other equipment for young guests.

Both branches offer a package deal for the themed rooms until Feb. 29.

Chungju’s package includes one night’s stay at the room, a barbecue meal for three, entrance to the kids lounge, a gift package of local products, along with either a magic class on weekdays -- Sundays through Thursday -- or magic school for weekends -- referring to Fridays and Saturdays. The magic school is a 90-minute hands-on program consisting of magic performance and class, starting at 8 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday at a place themed after the Hogwarts school in Harry Potter series.

The package costs 150,000 won ($126) for weekdays, 240,000 won for weekends.

The package deal in Gyeongju includes one night’s stay, breakfast for three, three welcoming drinks and hands-on program feeding the rabbit. It costs 200,000 won during the weekdays -- Sundays through Friday -- and 310,000 won for weekends.
