Funding the film

Liem wishes to delve deeper into the historical, social and ethical underpinnings of Korean adoption and the legacies of transnational adoption on adoptees today. She and her team have already collected archive material and shot some interviews. They recently received development funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities but more funding is needed to complete the project.

She is now seeking contributions via the Kickstarter crowd sourcing website to complete the production phase of the film by following her subjects on their individual journeys.

The aim is to raise $75,000 by July 31 to cover travel, personnel costs, equipment rental and insurance for the production by non-profit organization Mu Films. She has already raised more than $15,000 through Kickstarter toward this goal.

She is working with the support of 18 organizations from around the world including Global Overseas Adoptees Link and Ko-Root in Seoul.
