Ateez will make its debut appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival which is slated to be held in California in April, according to KQ Entertainment on Wednesday.
It is the first K-pop boy band to join the lineup for the international music festival that began in 1999. This year’s lineup also includes fellow K-pop act Le Sserafim, as well as American singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey and rapper Doja Cat.
The eight-piece act’s second studio album, “The World Ep. Fin: Will,” became its first chart-topper on the Billboard 200 last month and is staying on the chart for the fifth straight week. The LP also notched the No. 2 spot on the UK’s Official Albums chart.
Later this month, the band will kick off its world tour in Seoul with a two-day concert and in February will drop its third single in Japan and host a showcase in Tokyo.
NewJeans’ music video shortlisted for Clio Music Awards
NewJeans earned a nod from Clio Music Awards with the music video for “Ditto,” according to the nominees list.
The video is one of the eight candidates for the Grand Prize in Film & Video category this year for the prestigious award, an American recognition that is one of the three major advertising festivals, along with the New York Festival and Cannes Lions. The shortlist also includes one for Jungkook’s “Seven.”
The music video full of retro vibe is available in two different versions that accumulated over 60 million views combined on YouTube.
“Ditto,” the pre-release from the group's first single, “OMG,” not only stayed atop the largest music chart at home for the longest time last year but was the group’s first entry on Billboard’s Hot 100 as well UK’s Official singles top 100.
Boynextdoor unveils 1st fan song
Rookie boy band Boynextdoor surprised fans with a special video for its first song dedicated to fans.
The visuals for “400 Years” were uploaded Tuesday following the band members frolicking around London and enjoying some leisurely time at a café and a bookstore. A hand-written letter closed the video asking fans to be with them for 400 years, a catchword for them and their fans.
The lyrics, co-authored by all six members, also include code words shared among them. Meanwhile, Jaehyun, Taesan and Woonhak participated in writing the melody.
Separately, the band was invited to a major music festival in Japan. It was included in the lineup for the final stage of Mejamashi TV 30th Anniversary Festival hosted by Fuji TV. The event will be held in eight cities across the country and Boynextdoor will perform in Tokyo on March 16.
Super Junior to tour Asia from June
Super Junior will launch a tour across Asia starting this June, said label SM Entertainment on Wednesday.
Tour “Super Show Spin-Off: Halftime” will begin with a tour in Seoul and will bring the band to Bangkok and Singapore in July, followed by Kuala Lumpur and Taipei in August, and Hong Kong and Jakarta in September.
At the fan meetup in November last year that marked the 18th anniversary of its debut, the bandmates hinted at the international event saying that there are many activities scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
In the meantime, subunit L.S.S. -- which consists of Leeteuk, Sindong and Siwon -- put out its first EP in Japan, “Let’s Standing Show,” on Wednesday. The trio also will host its standalone concert in Seoul on Feb. 3-4.
