Enjoy autumn at Taebaek Forest

Located 700 meters above sea level, tourists can enjoy the autumn breeze and landscape at the Taebaek Highland Natural Recreational Forest in Taebaek, Gangwon Province.

The Korea Tourism Organization said that, beginning in October, visitors to the recreational forest will be able to see firsthand the change of season to autumn. The fall comes to Gangwon Province before any other part of South Korea.

Travelers can not only enjoy fresh air but also take long walks in the forest surrounded by trees and streams.

The Taebaek Highland Natural Recreational Forest, which was chosen as the best place to visit in the fall by the KTO, also offers a variety of trekking courses ranging from 3.6 kilometers to 13 kilomters.

Enjoy Spanish barbecue at Park Hyatt Busan

Park Hyatt Busan’s signature restaurant Dining Room is presenting a “Suckling Pig” promotion offering barbecued suckling pig from Spain.

Best known by its Spanish name “Cochinillo Asado,” barbecued suckling pig is a specialty of Segovia, Spain.

It is served as a whole piece baked in the oven, with crispy skin and tender juicy meat. Prepared by the hotel’s signature restaurant Dining Room, this promotion offers Dining Room’s sourdough bread served with peperonata dip and green olive dip, as well as Korean flavored sashimi salad, as starters.

As a main dish, Spanish suckling pig is offered with bounteous grilled vegetables such as sweet pumpkins and potatoes.

In addition, dessert Assiette consisting of a crisp puff pastry galette with almond filling and apple compote will be served, so groups of up to five can enjoy a full-course dinner.


HalaTrip, Jejudo release travel guide for Muslims

HalaTrip.com, an online travel platform operated by Singapore-based Crescentrating, said together with the Jeju Tourism Association, it has published a 12-page travel guide on Jejudo Island for Muslim travelers.

Titled “Experience Jeju Island, A Traveler’s Haven,” the guide, which is available in English and can be downloaded from HalaTrip.com, introduces the island’s landscapes, culture and activities.

It also shows Muslim travelers the best places to visit, shop, dine and pray on the Korean Island.

“We are very keen to welcome tourists from all parts of the world to have a unique and unforgettable experience on our island,” said Kim Young-jin, president of the Jeju Tourism Association.


Korea-France Year kicks off in Paris

Korea and France have kicked off their bilateral cultural event with artists and musicians performing Korea’s royal Jongmyo Jeryeak musical rite at the Chaillot National Theater in Paris on Sept. 18.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports said that the 2015-2016 Korea-France Bilateral Exchange was being organized to commemorate the 130th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two sides next year.

The Korean Year in France under the 2015-2016 Bilateral Exchange will take place in French cities including Paris, Nantes, Lyon and Nice, and will run through August next year. The French Year in Korea will start four months later and will run throughout 2016.

Programs range from performances of Korea’s modern and traditional music, such as pansori, jazz and electronic music, to exhibitions of Korean artists’ visual artwork, fashion, design and photographs.


Experience Finland’s polar night

Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, is looking for explorers to participate in its program to experience the country in the winter.

In partnership with Finland Tourism, the 100 Days of Polar Night Magic program will take participants on a ride on Alaskan huskies dogsleds to see the aurora, and go camping, ice climbing and diving in Lapland.

Pasi Ikonen, a Finnish orienteering competitor and winner of the 2001 World Orienteering Championships, will be joining with the participants in the exploration.

Anyone aged over 20 from Korea, China, Japan, Germany and the U.K. can sign up for the Polar Night Magic in Finland until Oct. 19. Those selected for this event will get the chance to stay in Finland and explore Lapland between Dec. 15 and March 3 next year.
