Three KCC brothers donate W1b

Three “KCC brothers,” Chung Mong-jin, Chung Mong-ik and Chung Mong-nyul, have donated 1 billion won for less fortunate neighbors.

KCC chairman Chung Mong-jin, KCC president Chung Mong-ik and KCC E&C president Chung Mong-nyul chipped in with 400 million won, 300 million won and 300 million won, respectively, in personal wealth. 

Other executives and employees of KCC and KCC E&C contributed about 160 million won to add to the 1 billion won, KCC, a precision chemical company, said Wednesday. KCC E&C is an engineering and construction unit.

The money was given to Community Chest of Korea, a Seoul-based nationwide charity, on Tuesday.

“All executives and employees have found a congenial spirit in one another to help those families in need in times of economic crisis,” a KCC official said. “We will actively continue charitable works to become warm-hearted companies which grow with communities.”

The donated money will be used for living and medical expenses for low-income families.

So far, KCC executives and employees have engaged in various volunteer projects including cleaning the western coast, which had been polluted by an oil spill, providing relief aid to quake-hit areas in Japan, China and Turkey, and joining Hyundai Group’s efforts to establish the Asan Nanum Foundation.

Mong-jin, Mong-ik and Mong-nyul are sons of KCC honorary chairman Chung Sang-young, founder of the chemical-based KCC group. Chung Sang-young is a younger brother of Chung Ju-yung, the late founder of Hyundai Group.
