Hike Korea founder Roger Shepherd will give a photo presentation for the Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch on Tuesday, introducing the Baekdu Daegan trail in North Korea.
Shepherd has spent three months exploring the North Korean portion of the mountain range for a new photo book and will talk about his experiences there and the impact he hopes his book will have.
The Baekdu Daegan is a range that runs from Baekdusan right through the whole Korean peninsula, and the southern portion is a popular hiking route. The part in North Korea, however, is seldom explored.
The lecture will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Residents’ Lounge of Somerset House near Anguk Station in Seoul. The lecture is free for RASKB members and 7,000 won for nonmembers.
