Probationary holding auditions for ‘Santaland,’ ‘Libertine’

Probationary Theater is holding auditions this weekend for two upcoming plays ― “The Libertine” and “The Santaland Diaries.”

Auditions for Stephen Jeffrey’s “The Libertine” will be 6-10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The play follows a 17th-century hedonist who tries to nurture a young actress to greatness, hoping for redemption as a reward.

The play features bawdy humor and several male and female roles are available. The play will run in early May.

“The Santaland Diaries” by David Sedaris is a one-man play based on the writer’s experiences as an elf at a department store, and will be performed Dec. 21-23.

The actor does not require experience, but does need good comic delivery and commitment. A North American accent is required.

Auditions are from noon to 3 p.m., but those who arrive may have to wait and actors must arrive before 2:30 p.m. No preparation or appointment is necessary.

To audition for “The Libertine,” email director Ray Salcedo with your name and contact details via raysalcedo@gmail.com for a copy of the script and to schedule a time.

Auditions will be at the White Box Theater near Hyochang Park Station. To get there, leave Exit 2, double back and turn right. Turn right again at the florist and the theater is about 50 meters up the hill at basement level.
