ASEAN-Korea Center exhibits foods, beverages at COEX

The ASEAN-Korea Center held an exhibition of ASEAN foods and beverages at COEX in Seoul on Tuesday.

It has opened the ASEAN Pavilion as a participant in Food Week 2012, an international food expo, to showcase various food products from 30 ASEAN-based companies until Friday.

The companies were selected by trade promotion bodies of the 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Displayed products include dried fruits, seafood, coffee and tea, and frozen foods.

During the exhibition, the center will arrange business meetings between exhibitors and potential Korean traders. It has also set up the ASEAN Kitchen within the pavilion to show visitors how to cook dishes with ingredients from ASEAN and give them a chance to taste them.

The center is an intergovernmental organization established to increase trade, facilitate investment, boost tourism and accelerate cultural exchanges betwen ASEAN member states and Korea.
