The Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch will host a talk by junior Fulbright researcher Daisy Kim on the development of Korea’s multicultural society on Oct. 23.
She will discuss South Korea’s move away from nation-building based on ethnic homogeneity and the way in which Korea has used multiculturalism to include and exclude different categories of migrants.
The talk will then go on to explore ways of categorizing and labeling migrants and their consequences.
The talk is free to attend for RASKB members and 7,000 won for non-members and takes place from 7:30-9 p.m. in the Residents’ Lounge of Somerset Palace near Anguk Station.
