[Today’s K-pop] Blackpink’s Jennie hits Billboard’s Hot 100, 1st as solo act

Jennie of Blackpink made Billboard’s Hot 100 with single “One Of The Girls,” according to chart previews that became available on Tuesday in the US.

It is part of the original soundtrack for drama “The Idol,” fronted by The Weeknd, and featuring co-star Lily Rose Melody Depp. The song charted at No. 100 on the main singles chart and is Jennie’s first entry on the tally as a solo artist. Her solo special single from October, “You & Me,” ranked No. 2 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100. Blackpink, as a group, has nine hits on the Hot 100 chart.

“One Of The Girls” charted No. 62 on UK’s Official singles top 100 spending five weeks in a row on the chart.

Meanwhile, Jennie established her own label Odd Atelier to oversee her individual career while letting YG Entertainment continue to manage group activities.

 

2AM to return as full group next month: report

2AM is planning to make a comeback in January next year, according to a local media report on Wednesday.

The quartet is gearing up for a return early next month and will be backed by Hybe chairman Bang Sihyuk, who has written a series of hit songs for the band including “Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die” and supported its comeback in 2021, after a seven-year hiatus.

2AM will unveil a new song at a television music show on New Year’s Eve, raising expectations for the pending album.

The band debuted in 2008 with the single “This Song.”

 

SHINee’s Minho to drop solo single

Minho of SHINee will bring out a single on Jan. 6, 2024, said label SM Entertainment on Wednesday.

Single “Stay for a Night” will be a perfect listen for winter, full of warm sounds blending with the calm voice of the singer. Minho participated in writing the words for the song, which speak of wishing to spend time again with someone who always had been by his side.

On the day of release and on the following day in Seoul, he will meet his fans at his first solo fan concert “Multi-Chase.” The name of the event comes from his first solo EP “Chase” that was put out in December last year. The EP was No. 1 on iTunes top albums chart in 43 regions.

 

Just B to host 1st fan meet

Boy band Just B will greet fans at its first fan meetup in Seoul on Jan. 28, next year, said agency BlueDot Entertainment on Wednesday.

The six members will hold the event named after their slogan “Ready, Burn!” and the meetup will be broadcast online as well. It will be the group’s first live gig in about a year since its concert in Mexico that brought them to Mexico City and Monterey in late January this year.

Last week, the band released its first carol song, “I Luv You Merry Christmas.”
