Cha University GRRC holds symposium on natural resource for medical use

Cha University’s Region-Specific Resource Advancement Center in Northeast Region of Gyeonggi-do (GRRC) recently held a symposium to present cutting-edge technology on natural resources’ separation and refinement using Prep-HPLC technology, it said Thursday.

GRRC is a regional platform to share the latest expert scientific opinions on participating corporations’ local natural resources-based novel drug development.

The event held on Sept. 27 marked the sharing of technologies for natural resources analyzation.

CEO Song Sang-won of SL Science spoke in the first session on the separation-refinement technology using prep-HPLC.

HPLC is used to separate and refine high-purity target compounds from a mixed solution.

“It’s critical to secure natural resources in the most purified form wanted as possible to develop it into a high value-added product,” said Song. “Therefore, it’s important to appropriately use an automated system in which the proper conditions can be achieved for large-scale acquirement of the right concentration of the target material.”

CEO Song emphasized the need to focus on the methods to employ 3D structural information of physiochemical properties of the target samples, for efficient separation-purification of large volume of natural resource.

In the following session, director Son Woo-sung of GRRC elaborated on the use of artificial intelligence in the field.

GRRC is a model institution of academic and industrial collaboration, built together by the research agencies and the small and medium-sized enterprises of Gyeonggi Province.

It was designated in 2017 as the center for technology development and transfer for original technologies pertaining to medical and pharmaceutical materials.
