Oktoberfest at Grand Hilton

The Grand Hilton Seoul is hosting its annual traditional German Oktoberfest on Sept. 8.

The hotel, located in Hongeun-dong, northern Seoul, invites guests for an evening of celebration with beer and traditional German food.

The festival is Korea’s largest Oktoberfest event, which draws more than 1,000 people every year.

Originated in Munich, Germany, Oktoberfest is the world’s largest festival attracting about 7.5 million people every year. The origin of the festival is known as the celebration party of the marriage between the Crown Prince Ludwig and the Princess Theresa in 1810. Since then, celebrations have continued with costume parades and horse races following tradition.

Guests can also take to the dance floor and participate in various games such as a beer-drinking contest, arm wrestling and more.

The Paulaner Oktoberfest Band will perform during the fair to heighten the festival mood.

The highlight of the event is a lucky draw with prizes including airline tickets to the winner’s choice of any country in Europe or to Malaysia along with accommodation at Hilton Hotel chains, a capsule coffee machine as well as desk chairs.

The festival will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the Convention Center on the fourth floor of the hotel. Festival tickets are 120,000 won ($106), including tax and service charges. The ticket offers entry to the festival, food and various events.
