AmCham to host second Women’s Leadership Forum 2019

The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea and Amway Korea will host the second Women’s Leadership Forum 2019 in Seoul on Wednesday to examine female leadership here and discuss ways to foster gender balance.

“Policy support is needed to promote women’s economic activities and startups. We hope this forum will serve as an opportunity to reconsider ways to improve female leadership in corporates and foster next-generation female talent,” AmCham Chairman and CEO James Kim said.

“We hope to help Korean women advance socially and professionally and lay the foundations for them to become successful entrepreneurs,” an Amway Korea representative said.

Shin Bo-ra, the first member of the National Assembly to use maternity and parental leave, will deliver the keynote speech at the event held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel.

Professor Lee Sung-ho of University of Seoul will present on the “Current Status of Korean Entrepreneurship Index (AGER) and Economic Participation, ” while Jean DeSombre, executive vice president in charge of the North Asian region at Fresenius Medical Care, will discuss the topic of “Self-Empowerment: The Essential Element of Women’s Leadership in the Global Era.”

AmCham Korea, founded in 1953, encourages investment and trade between Korea and the US. It is the largest foreign chamber in Korea, comprising over 800 member companies and affiliates.
