The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is holding a video competition to promote makgeolli internationally.
The videos promoting Korea’s unique alcoholic rice brew should explain what makgeolli is, why the makers like it, why it is charming and how it differs from other alcoholic beverages.
One grand prize, one gold prize, two silver prizes and three bronze prizes are up for grabs, ranging from 1 million won to 3 million won. The top prize also includes tickets to a Korean wine festival, including flights and accommodation.
There is also a netizen’s prize of 500,000 won and special prizes of sets of makgeolli glasses.
Winners will be judged on quality of production, creativity, technical merit and how well the video met the requirements.
Contestants must be over 19 years old, and should upload their video to YouTube and send a completed application form to contest@makgeolli.or.kr by Sept. 9.
