A televised debate in Jordan spiraled out of control when a politician whipped out a gun to threaten his opponent, local media reported Saturday.
Parliament member Mohammad Shawabka was reportedly arguing about Jordan’s policies toward the uprising in Syria with an ex-legislator and political activist named Mansour Murad during the live TV program.
However, the debate became heated when Shawabka accused Murad of being a spy for the Syrian government, while Murad replied by saying that Shawabka is an Israeli spy.
The two men then continued to throw insults at each other until Shawabka, apparently losing his temper entirely, threw his shoe at Murad and pulled out a pistol to threaten him. Unfazed, Murad approached Shawabka and the two were locked in a brawl until the show cut to credits.
No shots were fired and no one was seriously hurt.
Murad will be filing charges of attempted murder against Shawabka.
