Among the nation’s top 10 largest conglomerates, Hanjin Group ranked first in percentage of “zombie” firms among its subsidiaries, at 31.6 percent, according to online corporate research firm Chaebul.com. Lotte was found to have the most zombie firms. A zombie firm has paid-in capital already impaired by losses or is unable to cover interest costs with what the company earns.
