Queen, Adam Lambert join Super Sonic lineup

Brian May and Roger Taylor of the legendary English rock band Queen ― behind all-time classic hits such as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You” ― will be making their way to Korea this summer as part of the Super Sonic 2014 festival first lineup.

Popular “American Idol” eighth season runner-up Adam Lambert will be joining the iconic rock stars on stage, taking the mic as Queen’s honorary leading vocalist, which he has done on and off over the past few years.

May and Taylor are original members of Queen, which was formed in 1970 out of London with leading front man Freddie Mercury and bassist John Deacon. Today, the band is still widely regarded as one of the greatest bands in rock history, releasing 18 No. 1 albums as one of the world’s best-selling music artists.

In 1991, lead man Mercury died of complications from AIDS. A few years after his death, Deacon decided to retire, and since then, May and Taylor have continued to perform together on occasion as Queen featuring collaborations with other notable artists such as Paul Rodgers. In 2001, the original Queen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This year’s Super Sonic rock music festival will take place on Aug. 14-15 at Seoul Olympic Park.
