KOCCA to offer one-stop services for content creators

The Korea Creative Content Agency, affiliated with the Culture Ministry, will open an integrated support center for content providers this month as well as a specialized team for the export of hallyu-related contents, its new head said Friday.

Hong Sang-pyo, president and CEO of KOCCA, told reporters that the plan was part of the agency’s restructuring process and was aimed at supporting content providers in different genres. The planned center will provide a wide range of consulting services on finance, legal matters, management and information on the industries.

“To secure sustainable growth for the agency and to find ways to better support the country’s content industry, we are to undertake a restructuring process,” Hong who previously served as senior presidential secretary for public affairs said. In March, the former journalist was named to head the agency for the next three years.

After the restructuring process, the agency will be able to support one-source-multiuse content, such as dramas adapted from comic books. Lee Choon-keun, general director of creative production promotion division of the agency said. KOCCA plans to spend a total of 288 billion won this year, an increase of some 20 percent from the previous year.

Established in 2009, the agency supports various areas of content development, including computer games, broadcasting and pop music.
