YB signs with ex-Guns N’ Roses manager to release single in U.K., U.S. for 1st time
Korea’s signature rock band YB is gearing up for its official debut in the United Kingdom and Unites States after signing with Doug Goldstein, the former manager of American hard rock legends Guns N’ Roses, YB’s management agency announced on Tuesday.
YB is slated to release its first English single with Goldstein in February and introduce itself overseas through various local radio gigs and music magazines in the West.
The PR firm Lesley Z Media, which successfully promoted popular acts including Stone Temple Pilots, Duran Duran, KISS and The Offspring, will take charge of YB’s public relations while the renowned U.K. marketing firm Big Machine Agency will actively advertise YB in the two countries.
Although YB has performed in diverse rock festivals and concerts abroad in the past, the band’s to-be-released English single will mark its first formal international appearance under a foreign management agency.
Goldstein, who led Guns N’ Roses to fame -- from its debut in the 1980s until the 2000s -- and managed the group’s world tours in over 40 countries, lauded YB, whom he first met in the fall of 2013.
“YB is an all-around talented band, with excellent guitar riffs, melodies, vocals and musical skills. When I first heard the band play, it was as if I had met Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses’ in Korea,” stated the American manager.
“YB’s biggest strength lies in its excellent teamwork which has endured for almost 20 years. I am a big fan of YB and I hope that I can continue to work with the band for another 20 years or more in the future,” he added.
Goldstein first suggested the upcoming business partnership last fall to YB’s leader and vocalist Yoon Do-hyun, who decided to take up the offer after hearing the veteran manager’s thorough plans and visions for the band.
“I am very much looking forward to working with an excellent management,” Yoon said. “I am grateful that YB will be formally debuting abroad after ten years of performing at small and large international venues.”
