African dance, music and performance arts are to be celebrated in Seoul on April 28.
The Ubuntu Festival has been organized by professional friends of Africa in Korea and people of African descent living here.
A family-friendly performance will be held at Seoul Global Center Theater in M-Plaza near Myeong-dong Subway Station’s Exit 6.
Headline performers will include Reggae fusion artist JoshRoy, traditional West African dancer Ma-Abena and Korean reggae act Windy City. Dee Jay Rico will also DJ.
All acts will also perform at a nighttime event to be held from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at Manhattan bar in Itaewon. Contemporary hits from across the African continent are promised as well as reggae, hip-hop and R&B, along with poetry and dance performances.
The multicultural event will donate all profits toward empowering African youth to become entrepreneurs. Organizers will use cash raised to promote an alliance between Korean IT companies and IT Schools in Kenya.
The events have been organized by Wong Won Productions, ICONZ Media LLC and Global Asia Promotions. Tickets are 15,000 won for the daytime performance and 10,000 won for the night event. Spaces for the theater performance should be booked in advance by calling Desire Uhuru on (010) 6420-6431.
