E-sens of Supreme Team going solo

Rapper E-sens, formerly of hip-hop duo Supreme Team, announced Monday that his contract with his agency had been terminated and he is going solo.

“Yes, they told me today the contract is over. I’m going to become a solo artist,” the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kang Min-ho, said on Twitter.

Amoeba Culture, Supreme Team’s agency, said via press release that the rapper was no longer with the company. The move effectively broke up the popular duo consisting of E-sens and Simon Dominic, whose real name is Jung Ki-seok.

“The rappers have parted ways,” an official from Amoeba Culture told local media. “But since Supreme Team actually started off as a project band, I don’t know if you could call it a break-up.”

The official added that Simon Dominic would also pursue a solo career, although the 29-year-old had yet to discuss his plans with the company.

Prior to their official debut, the two rappers made a name for themselves by performing in the underground hip-hop scene from the earlier 2000s. The two started performing as a duo in 2007 and joined Amoeba Culture, which already had big shot hip-hop artists such as Dynamic Duo.

The two released their first album “Supreme Team Guide To Excellent Adventure” in 2009, and won the “Men’s Rookie of the Year award” at M.net Asian Music Awards that year. Since then, the group gradually rose to stardom with hits like “Wae (Why)” and “Dang, Dang, Dang.”
