Rainbow Island Music and Camping back for more ‘healing’

Rainbow Island Music and Camping will be back on Nami Island this weekend with an eclectic lineup.

Now in its third year, the three-day outdoor festival kicks off Friday with international artists scheduled to perform on three stages: Rainbow Stage, Island Stage and Forest Stage.

Korean band Clazziquai, electronic trio Idiotape and R&B singer Junggigo are scheduled to perform on the first day. DJ duo Squatters will also excite fans with their unique style of electronica.

The most anticipated lineup of artists will be performing on the second day. The participation of post-Brit pop band Travis has generated the loudest buzz this year. This is the band’s third visit to Korea, following the 2008 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival and an exclusive concert in Seoul in 2009.

Electronic/house duo Peppertones and Urban Zakapa, who have both broadened their fan bases in recent years with their urban pop albums, will also take to the stage on Saturday.

Singer and composer Jung Jae-hyung and Superstar K4 contestant Yoo Seung-woo are also scheduled to perform.

Most festival goers will likely stay for Sunday when indie rock band Nell, electronic garage rock band The Koxx, indie band Daybreak and Korean pop songstress Taru are scheduled to perform.

As in previous editions, the festival period is the only time of the year when camping is allowed on the island.

A one-day ticket, only available for Saturday and Sunday, costs 88,000 won, and a three-day ticket costs 143,000 won. Camping zone admissions are sold separately at 55,000 won for 2-3 people and 77,000 won for 4-6 people.
