Two more Nexen Heroes players received penalties from the Korea Baseball Organization on Friday for their actions on and off the field, raising the total number of players disciplined this week on the second-place team to three.
The KBO announced that pitcher Kim Byung-hyun has been fined 2 million won ($1,780) for his “unsportsmanlike conduct.” As he was leaving the game against the Lotte Giants on Wednesday, Kim flung the ball over the head of the home plate umpire, Moon Seung-hoon, and toward the opposite dugout on the first-base side.
Moon determined that Kim had intended to throw at him and quickly ejected the player. Kim vehemently denied the charges.
Also, the KBO suspended Nexen’s backup infielder Shin Hyun-cheol for four months and ordered him to complete 240 hours of community service in youth baseball-related activities, after he got charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and a hit-and-run. (Yonhap News)
