Retired South Korean soccer icon Park Ji-sung on Thursday introduced additional players for his All-Star squad that will take on the All-Star team from the country’s top competition.
Park, former South Korean captain and Premier Leaguer with Manchester United, had earlier announced that Lee Young-pyo, a retired defender and a longtime teammate of Park’s on the national team, would play with him at the All-Star Game. The match will kick off at 8 p.m. on July 25 at Seoul World Cup Stadium. They will take on the K League Classic All-Star team, as voted in by fans, coaches and captains.
Park unveiled the rest of his 15-man roster, which features the North Korean striker Jong Tae-se of Suwon Bluewings on offense. Lee Chun-soo of Incheon United, who played with Park at the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, was also named to Park’s team. Former Japanese national captain Tsuneyasu Miyamoto is the only foreign player in the lineup.
The two goalkeepers will be Kim Byung-ji of Chunnam Dragons, at 44 the oldest K League Classic player, and Choi Eun-sung of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, a 43-year-old who will retire on Sunday. (Yonhap)
