Hyundai Department Store to open Dongdaemun outlet

Hyundai Department Store will open a new outlet in Dongdaemun, a popular shopping district in Seoul, on Friday, targeting Chinese tourists looking for high-quality products.

Built on a 37,000- square-meter plot, the nine-floor outlet will have lifestyle and food sections, a branch of Kyobo Bookstore as well as medical and beauty service centers. It will also have the first offline store of e-commerce operator Wemakeprice, it added.

Total floor space of the outlet’s food and beverage section -- similar to that of a football field -- will be the largest in the country, with about 70 franchises set to operate. Rather than focusing on luxury products, fashion stores offering quality outfits for children and women at affordable prices will occupy the third to eighth floors.

Binggrae, a Korean dairy company, will open a Yellow Cafe on the ninth floor to sell its signature Banana Flavored Milk. Its banana milk is one of the most popular drinks with Chinese tourists, the firm says.
