Rihanna won the top prize of the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards for her “We Found Love” song on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
British boy band One Direction was also in the spotlight, sweeping up three prizes including Best Pop Video and Best New Artist for their debut single “What Makes You Beautiful.”
The other artists who won VMAs are Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay, Calvin Harris and Demi Lovato.
Korean singer Psy appeared briefly during the live show with host Kevin Hart, surprising and entertaining many of his Korean fans and some famous singers such as Katy Perry.
Psy also his famous horse-riding dance of his hit song “Gangnam Style.”
What drew the attention of Korean fans was his response in Korean to a question by the host.
Asked how he feels about the record number of views of his music video on YouTube, Psy answered in Korean: “I wanted to say this in Korean once on this stage. It’s awesome!”
His “Gangnam Style” music video broke the 100 million mark in YouTube views on Tuesday.
