BTS’ ‘Fake Love’ enters Spotify’s Global Top 200

K-pop heavyweight BTS once again reached a new milestone by entering Spotify’s Global Top 200 Chart at No. 17, the highest ranking for any K-pop act to date.

According to the global music streaming service Sunday, “Fake Love,” the group’s single from its recently released “Love Yourself: Tear” album, was the top ranking song from the album.

With the new ranking, BTS also broke its own record on the list. Its previous hit “DNA” made it to No. 41 in September last year, making the boy band the first Korean act to break into the 200 chart.

All the other songs from the “Love Yourself: Tear”  have also entered the charts, with “The Truth Untold,” “134340” and “Paradise” landing on No. 50, 66 and 71, respectively.

As for the iTunes’ Top Album charts, “Love Yourself: Tear” has claimed the top spot in 65 countries, including the US, Australia and Brazil, while “Fake Love” topped iTunes’ Top Songs chart in 52 countries including Finland, Chile and Denmark.

The single is dominating local streaming sites.

BTS’ highly anticipated “Love Yourself: Tear” is its third full-length album and the second part of its “Love Yourself” series. The album also follows the group’s previous “Love Yourself: Her” album, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200. The new album’s lead track “Fake Love” is a moody hip-hop track that delivers the members’ realization that what they once believed to be true love was “fake” love.

BTS will perform its new single for the first time at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The group has been nominated for its second Top Social Artist award at Billboard Music Awards.

The group will also hold a grand comeback showcase in Korea on May 24 via Mnet at 8:30 p.m. and promote its new song on the US comedy talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on May 25 as well.
