Psy tops iTunes chart in 30 countries

South Korean rapper-singer Psy topped the iTunes Chart in 30 countries with his single "Gangnam Style," YG Entertainment said Friday.

Psy's management agency in Seoul said "Gangnam Style" ranked as the top single on Britain iTunes after enrapturing fans in such countries as the United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Argentina and Brazil.

It said the song remained at the top of the iTunes worldwide ranking with Psy's popularity spreading from the United States, where the single first caught on fire, to Europe and Latin America.

The entertainment agency, one of the largest in South Korea, said the rapper-singer, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, was interviewed on a BBC radio talk show, while media outlets in Switzerland, Poland and Mexico have all broadcast reports on the South Korean musician.

Reflecting the global popularity of "Gangnam Style," the music video, which debuted at No. 52 on iTunes on Aug. 27, reported more than 200 million views on YouTube as of Tuesday, with numbers likely to rise steadily in the future, it said. (Yonhap News)
