A foreign comics site labeled South Korea as a country of workaholics, a fresh indicator that the country’s workers are indeed working hard for too many hours.
The site, Dog House Diaries, unveiled a world map showing the strengths and key characteristics of various countries.
While the representative word for South Korea was “workaholics,” North Korea earned “censorship” and Japan got “robots.”
There were two key words for China: “CO2 emissions” and “renewable energy.”
The key words for the map are based on real data from the Wikipedia, the World Bank and the Guinness Book of World Records.
As for hardworking South Koreans, local data also backed up the justification for the key word. According to 2012 data by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, South Koreans were estimated to work 44.6 hours per week. The average figure for OECD countries was 32.8 hours.
