Largest-ever business delegation to accompany Park to U.S.

A delegation of 52 business leaders, including chiefs of the nation’s five major business organizations, will accompany President Park Geun-hye on her U.S. visit next week.

The largest-ever delegation will focus on quelling concerns sparked by the North Korean risks over the South Korean economy during the visit, the Federation of Korean Industries said.

The delegation is scheduled to join Park in a dinner to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korea-U.S. alliance in Washington and discuss bilateral economic cooperation in a roundtable of CEOs from the two countries.

Park is set to attend the CEO roundtable to explain her administration’s economic policy directions and listen to business leaders’ opinions on pending issues.

The Korean business delegation also has its own activities planned, such as a meeting with U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner.

The delegation will include chairmen Huh Chang-soo of the FKI, Sohn Kyung-shik of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lee Kun-hee of Samsung Electronics, Chung Mong-koo of Hyundai Motor Group, Koo Bon-moo of LG Group, Kim Chang-geun of SK Group’s top decision-making SUPEX Council, Shin Dong-bin of Lotte Group, Chung Joon-yang of POSCO and Hyun Jeong-eun of Hyundai Group, according to the FKI. Moon Jin-kook, head of the Federation of Korea Trade Unions, the nation’s largest labor umbrella group, will also visit the United States.

Representatives of small and medium-sized companies such as chairmen Kang Ho-kap of the Association of High Potential Enterprises of Korea, Nam Min-woo of the Korea Venture Business Association and Bahk Byong-won of the Korea Federation of Banks will also join the delegation.
