KBS to host Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union meeting

The 49th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union is scheduled from Oct. 11-17 at the head office of the Korea Broadcasting System and the 63 Convention Center in Seoul, KBS, the host organization, said Thursday.

The ABU General assembly is the largest media event in the Asia-Pacific region and is expected to be attended by 220 broadcasters from 60 countries.

Various events will be held to promote cooperation and exchange among broadcasters in the region under the theme of “Beyond the Wave.”

Also to be held alongside the general assembly is the ABU Radio Song Festival, which will showcase new musical talent from nations within the Asia-Pacific region. By highlighting the rich musical traditions of the region, the festival aims to foster increased understanding and cooperation across borders.

The ABU Radio Song Festival will celebrate the cultural diversity of Asia and the Pacific and is a powerful platform for discovering fresh, unsigned local musicians and introducing them to a wide international audience, according to the website of the ABU.

KBS said it hopes the general assembly will provide an opportunity to disseminate South Korea’s culture, creativity and value to the world.
